Top 5 Unique Cat Breeds

While it may seem that most cats look the same, there are definitely some more unusual breeds with more distinct features than others. Here is our list of the top five unique cat breeds. Did your cat make the list or did we miss a breed that's a standout?

Sphynx and Peterbald

Hairless cats...Love them or hate them (we love all cats), they are definitely a unique breed. While you may not think you can be allergic to hairless cats, you still can.

Did you know? The Peterbald cat was created by Olga S. Mirnova in 1994 as a result of experimental breeding. They resemble Oriental Shorthairs with a hair-losing gene.

The Sphynx was developed through selective breeding. Although the breed appears completely bald, the skin has very fine hairs that feel similar to chamois.

Teacup Persian

The unbelievable cute Teacup Persian is a variety of Persian cat that has actually been bred to be extremely small. These cats (yes cats, not kittens) can fit in the palm of your hand!

Devon Rex

The Devon Rex is not only a stunningly elegant cat with its short, soft hair, but they can also be trained to do tricks. Yes, you heard that right - a cat doing tricks. It's time to show those dog owners that cats really can do everything!

Khao Manee

These Thai cats are rocking the David Bowie Look with blue or gold eyes (often one of each). Beyond their sunning eyes, their other signature feature is their magnificent white coats.

Japanese Bobtail

Last, but certainly not least is the Japanese Bobtail, which, as the name suggests, is from Japan. These incredibly cute cats are born with short, puffy tails and have actually been known to hop like bunnies when they run. Maybe it's time to start the tradition of the Easter Cat?
